Human Rights in Ukraine

πŸ—“οΈ 06/29/2024

πŸ•’ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

🌐 Old School Square, 51 N Swinton Ave, Delray Beach, FL 33444

The Ukrainian Association of Florida will unite to celebrate INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN’S DAY and UKRAINIAN CONSTITUTION DAY, banding together for a powerful reminder that fundamental Human Rights, Dignity, and Democracy itself are all under attack (both here in America and abroad). Russia’s unjust War against Ukraine has unlawfully disrupted millions of lives, with children suffering the most egregious and heinous of violations. Over 20,000 children have been forcibly deported from Ukraine to Russia, separated from their families, and blocked from ever knowing their very cultural identity, through a criminally recognized act of recognized Genocide.

Ukraine’s civilians are under constant attack by a barrage of missiles and guided drones which have left every territorial region of Ukraine unsafe. Thousands of Ukrainian schools and universities have been disrupted and destroyed, and with the entire nation under threat of unceasing air-raid sirens, it is impossible for millions of students to learn and continue their necessary education. This Rally is a reminder that every free nation's Constitution is a Bill of Rights that are a fundamental bedrock of freedom in every Democratic Society. Ukraine’s Constitutional rights are essential for all Ukrainian people, including children, regardless of their ethnicity, and should never be violated.

We will stand together in solidarity with the Ukrainian people and fight for their rights to safety, education, language, and culture, and call for an end to Putin’s War and Freedom for the people of Ukraine. This is a family-friendly event promoting a brighter future where all children can live safe and free and secure.

Raise your voice for constitutional rights in Ukraine! Join us on June 29th!

Samchykivka painting, a form of Ukrainian decorative art, originated in the late 19th century in the village of Samchyky, Khmelnytsky region. Talented craftswomen painted houses with unique patterns upon request, and houses decorated with floral ornaments were considered talismans. The pictures on the walls were a symbol of a good housewife, and young men looked at them to see if an unmarried girl lived in the house. This painting was common in Samchyky in the mid-20th century, but over time, it became increasingly rare. After the Second World War, the tradition of painting houses declined and was nearly lost. However, in the 1970s, the tradition saw a revival when amateur artists Oleksandr Pazhymsky and Hennadiy Rakovsky discovered patterned houses and chests in the villages of Severyny and Samchyky.
